The relief was palpable. What had started out as a conversation many months ago would, all being well, turn out to be the most important day ever. “Love you,” I mumbled into her hair. “Only if you want to.”
“MMmm, kay,” she munched quietly. Her parents, Ruth and Tom, along with my Mother and Brothers had decided to wait back at home so that was going to be another emotional reunion for all of us. It had been just over an hour since Heather had regained her sight. I shrugged my shoulders.
